FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER: Tut99 (Roger)

1: How long have you been involved in photography?
On and off for 47 years. I started on my first vacation. I borrowed my dad’s old Exakta camera (from just after World War II). On the first roll, I couldn’t get the film to rewind. I ended up breaking the film and had to take the roll to the store in two canisters. I started doing some digital in 1999 with a Kodak 1megapixel fixed lens camera that I won in a contest.
2: Equipment you use?
I’m using a Canon 20D and once in a while a Minolta A2.
3: Mac or PC?
I’m using a home built PC running Window XP.
4: What inspires you?
I’ve always been big on nature. A vacation to a western U.S.A. park or just a walk on a local nature just turns me on. Also, I got my fist grandchild this year and obviously enjoy taking pictures of him. He’s 6 months old and his mother and I took him on his first nature trail walk this week.
5: Preferred subject matter?
I’m big on nature. For the last 16 months, I have been taking lots of animal pictures. Digital is the perfect match for animal pictures. You get instant feedback and you can take dozens of photos looking for the perfect pose.
6: Name one thing you haven't caught with the camera that you REALLY want to capture.
A hard choice. I would love to get a good shot of a wild cougar or wolf.
7: When in doubt about your art, who do you confide in?
My wife. She always gives me an honest opinion.
8: Qualifications/training in anything? ie: Photoshop
None. I do read the tutorials in the Photo magazine and try many of the techniques.
9: Plans for the future?
For now, I plan a lot more wildlife photography. I’ve developed a love for roaming the zoo. I want to get a lot better at birds in flight.

Locamotion
FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER: Locomotion

1: How long have you been involved in photography?
I've taken snapshots all my life, but only became really interested in photography as an art form when my son gave me a new camera last Christmas, and I joined Flickr.
2: Equipment you use?
I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ 30.
3: Mac or PC?
PC
4: What inspires you?
Light and color inspire me
5: Prefered subject matter?
I work at home in a rural setting. Nature is all around, and that's what I usually shoot. A recent trip to the ocean resulted in some pleasing shots
6: Name one thing you haven't caught with the camera that you REALLY want to capture.
A good Moon shot
7: When in doubt about your art, who do you confide in?
Comments on Flickr are a big help, since I'm a novice photographer.
8: Qualifications/training in anything? ie: Photoshop
I've been a working potter for over 30 years and earn my living at it, along with my husband. I don't have Photoshop - recently noticed that the local college is offering a digital camera course that I might take.
9: Plans for the future?
I plan to make more pottery, sell it at more art shows, and keep my camera handy for good shots that come my way.
10: In one word, describe your photography.
